Associate Category Manager

"Join our team to manage P&L accountability for Food Service and Dispensed Beverages. You'll support pricing, logistics, and vendor negotiations while collaborating with internal teams to drive business decisions and optimize product offerings."

Starting pay: $58K/ year + DOE and bonus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Own the P&L accountability for categories within the Food Service and Dispensed Beverages departments
  • Perform and provide analysis to predict trends in product positioning, product selection, and pricing and logistics of product distribution
  • Support Category Managers with vendor negotiations, contracts, PriceBook, rebate analysis and dead-net costing
  • Aid Category Managers with tasks and duties related to third-party distribution and the general supply chain/out of stocks including weekly Stores Not Selling reporting for operational use
  • Work with Customer Research group to facilitate testing and initiatives in MarketDial for Product, Pricing, Promotions and Placement and other research initiatives as assigned
  • Work with IT team and 3rd party data vendors to ensure data flows seamlessly and integrally

Qualifications:  Education  (Add the degree level and applicable certifications that are preferred)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred, such as Marketing or Business

Qualifications:  Experience

  • 1+ year of product marketing or related experience
  • Knowledge of Merchandising and Retailing
  • Analytical skills with experience in MS Office Suite products including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and weigh alternatives and select appropriate course of action, driving activity to measurable results
  • Worked with others to achieve shared goals while taking responsibility for individual actions achieving consistent results
  • The ability to influence others outside of your immediate space
  • Experience leveraging others appropriately and overcoming unexpected obstacles while utilizing appropriate metrics to measure progress
  • A record of anticipating customer needs and giving high priority to customer satisfaction and service

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including strong listening skills
  • Practice operating independently without the need for continuous oversight or direction
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and balance competing needs
  • A history of taking the initiative to identify and solve work-related problems
  • Experience in exercising initiative and sound judgment in decision-making
