Krause Group is looking for an IT Data Engineer to join our team! Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining all aspects of our retail data warehouse and analytics architecture to meet our complex business analysis and reporting needs.  In this role, you’ll leverage advanced technologies to transform large, complex unstructured data into actionable insights for our organization. You will perform regular content and structure analysis of data warehouse and analytical databases and identified opportunities for query/database tuning to improve performance and implement changes with senior staff.

What You’ll Do:

  • Designs, Develops, Tests and Supports new and current ETL processes to enhance loading of data from and into different source/ target systems.

  • Works with Architects, Senior Data Warehouse Developers, and Business Partners to fashion out the technical vision for the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Analytical Data Marts and other data repositories by employing SSIS, SSRS, SQL server and other big data technologies.

  • Provides support to business requirements in the application and consumption of information from the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) or from other suitable source systems.

  • Leverage Continuous Delivery practices to integrate source control and automate builds, tests and deployments.

  • Develop operational and management/analytical reports and dashboards and troubleshoot as necessary.

  • Carry out monitoring, tuning, and database performance analysis.

  • Create and maintain an effective working relationship between end-users and the Information Technology department. 

  • Partner with Business Insights and Analytics, DBA, and Enterprise Reporting in the development of data types, structures, and dictionaries.

  • Assist business users (internal or external to IT) in their database needs, helping them understand the data types and structures contained within the various data repositories.   

  • Partners to develop short and long-term strategic plans for our data analytics architecture.

  • Leads small to medium projects, ensuring project requirements and timelines are met.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Practical experience with data warehouse development and Microsoft SQL Server preferred.

  • Practical experience with SQL Server/Microsoft Technologies, specifically SSIS, SSRS, DevOps, ADF, Azure Technologies, Power BI and API Management

  • Ability to function as a strategic partner within a team, working with all project stakeholders such as business users, project managers, and business analysts while delivering solutions.

  • Prior IT experience in the retail industry is a plus.

  • Must have the ability to create or interpret detailed project specifications to develop program logic and code.

  • Must be able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, fun environment.

  • Comfortable with a faster than average pace and frequent changing environment

Other key requirements

  • Related experience in a data warehouse or data engineer role

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis or Information Systems, preferred.

  • Relocation to Des Moines, IA required
