Customer Account Manager - Solar Transport

Solar Transport is headquartered in Des Moines, IA and operates in a hybrid office setting. Our associates are onsite a few days each week. Role is not fully remote.

Solar Transport is looking for a talented and experienced Customer Account Manager to join our team! This role oversees and manages all day-to-day customer service-related activities and functions for our Solar Transport customer accounts. In this crucial role, the Customer Account Manager will use sound disciplines to bring solutions to customers while generating maximum revenue, operating in an efficient manner, and meet the safety and performance standards of the company, customers, and regulating authorities. Success in this role looks like meeting the needs of all customers in a timely, error free manner, with accurate reporting.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage the day-to-day customer service activities for all customers assigned to portfolio

  • Responsible to monitor, identify performance gaps, analyze root cause, and implement corrections for all customers

  • Accountable for all customers assigned to the portfolio

  • Assure that all information at shift-handoff is complete and accurate

  • Work in concert with Fleet Management/Planning to assure all loads are covered, and all driver and equipment schedules are maximized

  • Communicate all issue related concerns to respective personnel (Customer Service Director, Sales, Customer, etc.

  • Generate, provide, share, and/or disseminate reporting metrics to respective parties (Management, Sales, Customer)

  • Identify low volume, mismatched, or overburdened operating territories and address or recommend course of action to improve utilization and maintain service levels required by customer

  • Always use professional communication with customers when soliciting freight, managing day-to-day business activities, and issue management

  • Provide detailed information to Business Development to maximize asset / resource utilization of existing fleet, including opportunities for multi-shift and billed miles improvements

  • Initiative to identify, address, correct present, and prevent future issues for customer(s) in portfolio for the sake of customer relationship growth

Other key requirements:

  • Background and experience in the transportation industry; experience in bulk fuel transportation

  • Managerial experience

  • Bachelors in Transportation Logistics, Business Administration, or general Business, preferred

  • Relocation to the Des Moines, IA area required
