Business Development Manager - Solar Transport

Calling all experienced business development professionals experienced in bulk fuel, chemicals, or food grade transportation! Solar Transport is growing and we are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team!

The Business Development Manager is responsible for managing the activity of assigned sales territory, customers, and markets and building business through new and existing customers. You'll be responsible for identifying targets and generating new opportunities for growth, maintaining current customer relationships, and generating maximum revenue and profits.

We're looking for a professional who can operate in an efficient manner and meet he standards set forth by Solar Transport and our customers. This role assists in maintaining current customer relationships through constructively communicating opportunities and possible improvements to Customer Account Management, Dispatch/Fleet Management, Regional Operations Management, and other support personnel.  

What you’ll do:

  • Identify sales prospects, sell products and services by establishing contact and developing relationships, create new opportunities for growth within assigned territory

  • Foster professional communication with customers , managing day-to-day business activities, and issues resolution

  • Establish and provide guidance to Customer Service and Operations personnel regarding customer commitments and service expectations

  • Responsible to address, direct, or delegate customer issues and opportunities to or with appropriate personnel (Management, Operations and/or Customer Service)

  • Identify process performance gaps, analyze root cause, and implement corrections

  • Develop monthly sales forecasts for President, Operations, and Recruiting for proper planning

  • Develop and maintains 90-day plan for sales forecasting

  • Work with President and Marketing and peers to establish annual improvement goals, identify improvement projects, and to lead continuous improvement programs

  • Represent Sales and Marketing team by leading bi-weekly strategic sessions with Operations and Customer Service groups

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills

  • Ability to effectively resolve conflicts in business setting

  • Good computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Word and Excel and PowerPoint application technologies

  • Self-motivated, energetic, and goal oriented

  • Patient and excellent communication skills

Other key requirements:

  • Extensive background in Sales experience; experience in bulk fuel/chemicals/food grade transportation, required

  • Bachelor’s; Business, Marketing or Transportation, preferred
